Roll Call for the OG's (Not Original Gangsters - OLD GUYS!)

I saw The Firm also, only time I ever saw Jimmy Page or Paul Rodgers! You can keep your cookie though. One of my favorites was seeing AC/DC with Bon Scott open up for UFO in 1979. Michael Schenker had just left UFO. So a show that should've sold 10,000 tickets only ended up selling about 2,500 because of no Schenker. Nowadays, only us old timers remember UFO and AC/DC ended up becoming one of the biggest acts in Hard Rock.

@slaytanic - Holy Crap Dude!!! Your concert resume is beyond impressive! You mentioned seeing Kiss in Detroit. You originally from Michigan? I ask because I saw a band in 1978 open for Kiss called The Rockets. I believe those guys were from Michigan and opened many shows in the midwest back in the late 70's. I still have a vinyl release of their's called Love Transfusion - It was released by Tortoise International Records. Kind of a cheesy band but again, they were quite popular in Michigan and the midwest.

Anyone remember these other opener's??? - ever see these guys: The Baby's, Starz, Head East, Savoy Brown. Or how about Sammy Hagar when he used to run around in a red jumpsuit, playing a red guitar with primarily red stage lights. How about the Joe Perry Project? Saw Heart headline an outdoor show in 1980 and the openers were Joe Perry and two other rising star bands by the names of The Scorpions and Judas Priest.

Yep I saw the Red Rocker back in the day, and I'm gonna admit to liking him in Van Halen. I saw the original Van Halen once, and it was one of the worse concerts I've ever seen. I missed the Joe Perry Project, he played at a bar where I used to live, but I wasn't 21 yet. I did see the Whitford StHomes project they opened for BOC and Foghat. BOC had a 40' Godzilla torso on stage. breathed smoke, red laser eyes, ahhhh good times.

I hear ya'. I saw Van Halen on the Van Halen II tour and Roth sang the same verse two times in a row. He was completely hammered drinking JD on stage. Another good show back then was Nugent. Saw April Wine open for him late 70's. Awesome show. Saw U2 at the Uptown theatre in Kansas City for a $1 on their first album tour. Didn't really know who they were.

I saw Metallica back in 2008 and the only song they played (written after the Black Album) was Cyanide. Guess which show I was at.

@Slaytanic Sounds like a plan friend. I'll where my Cradle of Filth turd shirt, my Hatebreed hat, and start hanging at the bar around 7:00. My pic on here is fairly new, I'm the guy standing between Mike Portnoy and Russel Allen :) @Hounddoug63 I saw U2 on the same tour they opened for the J Giles Band. Their biggest hit at the time was a Gloria remake.
