Protest the Hero are much better than ANY of those bands there. They play technical metal, NOT genericore. To link them with the rest of those bands is wrong.

and to add to discussion... JFAC is pretty damn generic. ESPECIALLY their first two albums. They kick-started the whole damn genre lol... yes I understand they've been moving away from deathcore and more towards death/tech-death metal. They're still not that good. And they're still pretty generic.

I'd say Despised Icon kick started deathcore. Deathcore got shittier after they broke up.

A a listener to most of these bands I can point out quite a few differences. First, Memphis May Fire play in drop G sharp which is a very interesting tuning, their guitar work isnt all chugging which separates them from a lot of bands out there. Miss May I I can agree with. I dont really listen to PTV so I wont comment. Now to say Veil of Maya, WCAR, ABR, and Texas In July are "genirecore" is just crazy. VoMs instrumental talent is insane and rather unique. WCAR's vocalist (both of them) are very good and the band as a whole is perfect live. ABR and TIJ are both fantastic, to say either of these bands are generic is nuts. Both of them all but never chug, when they do it's a breakdown for maybe 20 seconds, the drumming alone sets both of them apart. TAS, BYD, ABRB, Falling In Reverse and AGATG I totally agree with being very generic and frankly bad. Really the only thing that sets AGATG apart is the technoish parts they throw in. Poison the Well, can be argued for both, generic because nothing really stands out except the guitar work. I would agree with ETF but the guitarist are talented and as much as a tool that Ronnie is, hes vocal work and lyrics with them was a thing of beauty, as is with the new vocalist. Hes gone down hill real quick with FIR. JFAC is generic at all, if thats your opinion then ok but they really arent. Despised Icon was the leader of the deathcore movement and I do agree it went down hill after they broke up. Sorry for the paragraph btw

Children, I just came back from the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise, and forgot briefly what assholes some metal fans can be. Everyone didn't like every band, but there was respect for other's likes and dislikes. There wasn't any of that karate mosh-pit bullshit. Nobody was out to hurt anyone else. Everyone was there just to enjoy the music and have a good time. If you didn't like a band, you didn't go to their sets.
The Metal community should be a supportive family...not a bunch of opinionated jerk-offs. Grow the fuck up!
