@bayareametalhead, ask a music artist how they feel about that. @hornsintheair1996, cds really arent dying anytime soon, i mean for fucks sake people still buy new vinyl, cds are being updated to advanced discs and digipaks and whatnot so no they arent dying, people still buy them. radio stations and local stations WONT be replaced, there is way too much promotion and getting music out and money in that business, the internet and xm stations are just being added on. and bands off the label ARE being heard of, i mean, the founder of the label's band Detritus 68 is releasing their debut album this spring and it is one of the most anticipated metal albums of the 21st century, im no tsaying that to promote or talk bs either im saying that based on facts, and ive heard stuff off it, it wont be a normal metal record, its a 19 track album with godlike lyrics and very original sounds and no filler every song is a classic, just wait for it. and theres many mroe bands on the label that wll go very far, and not just rekkr, many others too.

Being heard of includes heavy advertisement. And yes cd's may be still selling but iTunes sells heavily outweighs the cd sales. Radio is dying. It may not be apparent where your at but in many places across the u.s. and I just looked up your record label managers bad on YouTube and found nothing. If his band is so well known so early I would at least be able to find a single on YouTube.

I don't think they feel great because they're not making as much money. But at least I'm trying to contribute rather than ripping their songs off for free

I buy music too. As someone entering the music business, I see piracy as a danger to my future career.

@hornsintheair, the founder's band has songs recorded but isnt posting songs yet, keeping all the music under the radar, they are supposed to release a few singles in the next month or so though. @slaytanic, u are just narrowminded. how do you know if the founder's band sucks if you havent heard music? and yes we WILL stop any fucking online pirates. we are not a cult.

actually Greg CD's are dying... walk into your local fye if you still have one. How about BestBuy? the worlds largest electronic retailer has shrunk its movies and music all the way down to one section of the store. also while you are in BestBuy go into the car audio section and look at the Decks they have. you might be shocked that a lot of them only play digital like hd radio or bluetooth and have no disc drive. Cd's are going away and Digital Media is where it is going. haven't bought a cd in 2 years i pay my $10 bucks a month on rhapsody and listen to the bands available and if they are not on rhapsody then they do not get my money... sorry Greg. "He who rejects change is the architect of decay. The only human institution which rejects progress is the cemetery." -Harold Wilson
You tried hard and you failed. Moral of the story is never try.

zomg guise if you take illegally download songs and take away 5 cents on the dollar out of musicians, ur hurting the artist! Even if you actually go to their shows, which is what they actually make money on! Lol what a joke. I love Tool but stuff like this is just silly. Fuck the record companies who make (almost) all the money from albums.
Fuck off emos.

The truth is, the majority of their money just comes from merch. When you total all of the expenses of touring, they (each) profit $25-$50/day even if the guarantee is $1,500. They spend so much time on the road because they know it's less expensive than not spending all that time on the road.

@autotech, the cd section is not that small, its not huge, but its not small. and technology advancement is terrible, and as many have said, will be the downfall ultimately. progress isnt always good. change is not always good.
