also as far as lyrics and attitude, I am inspired by many fantasy writers, like Tolkien, and video games. As well as mythology, and classic literature like Goethe's Faust.

Wow, am I really the only one here who is primarily a keyboardist and thus influenced by other metal/rock/prog keyboardists? Huh, I thought there would be a couple others, also, I should throw out Allen Lanier of Blue Oyster Clt as an influence for me.

I respect keyboard in metal (if its done right. Not like in Winds of Plague and garbage like that). I don't play keyboard though, and therefore am not influenced by any keyboardists.

@tristan MORGAN FUCKING ROSE!!! haha. and pretty much all of everyone in rock and metal today i dont even care if i like them or not they are an inspiration to me no matter what. because i might not like a band or artist but there's always a fan of everything, especially in metal. and that's what makes me inspired. for instance im not a huge fan of the glam metal bands except Van Halen, which they never even wore as much make-up as the other bands did, but those bands impacted soooo many people's lives, as well as all the other rock and metal bands out there. so that's why im inspired by everyone. end of story

i play pretty obscure instrument, maybe ill include them in a band one day. Im really good at writing and Im trying to devolp my voice to go with it. I try to shoot for a deeper harsher vocal style than a scream. Max Cavalera, Rob Flynn, Mark Hunter, Randy Blythe are the biggies. I really like Dave Draiman, he has a good voice but im not built for that. lol
