Bengals, I'm curious as to what you meant by we didn't have a lot of album releases this past year? There certainly were plenty of albums out, and looking back, 2012 was easily one of the best years for metal in all of the sub genres. Anyways, as for the topic at hand, I think all of the major names have been mentioned, but I'm pretty certain we'll be seeing at least one new Devin Townsend release this year (he's working on another more laid back alum I think, and a sequel to Ziltoid). Also, Mors Principium Est is comming out with some new material (if you aren't familiar with them, you probably should be). Oh, and I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet, but our favorie band, REKKR, will be releasing an album this year.

What about Baroness, Eluveitie, DTP, Witchcraft, High On Fire, Meshuggah, Gojira, Alcest, Testament, Kreator, Torche, and so so many more? There were so many killer albums this year for those who really explore the genre. I hope you don't take offense to this mate, but those are all pretty mainstream, or at least "bigger" bands, you might want to dig a little deeper into metal.

^those are all pretty "mainstream" releases. There have been tons of great albums/ep's released this year. 2011 and 2012 were both great years for metal. I'm sure if you looked a bit deeper, you'd see that there were some great albums put out this year. I'm also not saying that any of the bands you mentioned had bad releases. I liked both log's and aid's new albums quite a bit.

Meshuggahs was ok but not as good as their earlier stuff. And i thought that kreator released their newer album in 2011? Oh well. All im saying is that 2012 is nothing to what 2013 will be like. And i own Kreators, meshuggahs and testaments new albums.

I don't know why everyone is saying Mastodon. Where did anyone even get an inkling that this was happening? They just finished touring for The Hunter and then they are popping into the studio to record a track for the new Monsters Inc movie. Other than that, I dont expect to see much activity from them. And when did new Opeth become a thing?
