Machine Head all the way. I love both bands but Machine Head just has that gritty hardcore moshing metal sound to me. One of the first things that comes to mind when I hear the word metal, is Machine Head. But of course thats just me

I personally didn't think much of Trivium until Shogun, but In Waves managed to soil any good tidings I had for them. It has to be Machine Head. Burn My Eyes is one of the best metal records of the 90s, up there with Vulgar Display of Power, and probably one of the best metal records of all time. That album alone rapes everything Trivium has ever made.

Why are these two bands being compared, or rather contested? They're nothing alike, other than trivium's thrash influence. Aside from Shogun, I'm not really into trivium. Ascendancy is a pretty good album I guess. This is really a no contest for me. I like both bands but it's machine head by miles for me.

I think my vote goes to Trivium. I love both bands a lot but I've been into Trivium a lot longer than MH.

I too got into Trivium before MH but...Holy shit MH is epic. They sound far better live than Trivium and the music writing style is so far ahead of Trivium. Trivium is good but I think MH are way better.
STEVE HOLT - Steve Holt, Arrested Development.
If you don't know that show, shame on you. Seriously. You're pathetic. Not really. Just go watch it.

I'm gonna go with Trivium simply because I really love all their albums. The Burning Red wasn't that great of an album although Machine Head is godly.

If you had asked me this three years ago I would say Trivium... but now that my tastes have matured a bit, and that Trivium released the terrible pile of crap that was In Waves, Machine Head is better.
