skindred,motley crue,and alter bridge have played ozzfest too,and neither of those 3 could play mayhem

Don't forget CrazyTown and Limp Bizkit. Anyways, the sometimes writing says a band can't play this specific city at least 60 days before the next time (that's some small tour like when Nonpoint is headlining). It's usually 90 days if you're opening for somebody like Lamb of God. If it's Mayhemfest or Summer Slaughter, they want you to bring the maximum possible.

Deftones appeal to the Mayhem Fest crowd more than any of the mentioned bands. They have played Warped, Ozzfest, Taste of Chaos, and Family Values Tour. They can play for damn near any rock crowd. Kevin Lyman has said the contracts they have say a band can't play 120 days before and 30 days after and they only start to enforce at 90 days before. I'm sure the Mayhem Fest contracts are a little different, but he says they are more fair and reasonable with their radius clause contracts than most others. Just because Deftones have announced a late Winter/early Spring tour doesn't mean they aren't playing.

What is metrail? Maybe you meant material. Yes, I made a point that was easily contradicted with Deftones playing Ozzfest. I still think they have enough pull in the rock community to pull off a decent crowd at Mayhem.

They're not that great live. That's an opinion...Who knows if they'll get booked but I wouldn't prefer them yet I know I wouldn't mind either.

im pretty happy that deftones are not on, gives me more the reason to get a pit ticket.

ummm wait here, the deftones are every bit as heavy as disturbed or godsmack? imo, they have toured with soad, a.i.c. mastadon, rage, ozzy , slipknot ,machine head, played knotfest last summer, and are every bit as heavy and good as a7x? so why are they not the right fit for mayhem again?

I totally hope they co-headline Mayhem, saw them with SOAD and I thought they were pretty good :)
