If the singer is playing a guitar obviously you wont get to move around as much, as he has to sing into the mic, and also the singer might be able to focus more on singing, does it matter to you? and do you think it effects the energy/all over vibe of the bands performance?

It doesnt matter as long as the music is great. Just look at Slayer. They all play instruments and they fucking rule.
everybody dies so live your life and have fucking fun while doing it.

Those who have a vocalist that both plays and sings get a hell of a lot of respect from me, for example John Gallager of Dying Fetus, the dude is ridiculous. Not to mention they are a 3 piece band that plays some heavy ass death metal.

I go to concerts based on the music of the band performing. So no, it doesn't really matter if they are "full of energy" or whatever... Its an added bonus if they are, but it doesn't really dictate whether or not I enjoy a band live.

Depends on the band. Some groups really put together something great with a frontman whose only duty is to sing and occasionally play an instrument, others don't. I don't think it is worth comparing.
All about it...
