So i am just wondering what was so good about it? I guess since i never been. But was it because it was more metal or something? Or just better atmosphere? Seriously i never went so i don't see why everyone is going crazy it might come back.

If you go to ozzfest.com and check the history, youll see why, I mean black sabbath AND iron maiden? pfft. if only that could happen now a days

It was better because Ozzy or Sabbath was there. I dont need to say more but Ill keep going. They have had the best bands in metal and hard rock over the years and broke in alot of good bands. It was the originator

Been to 6 Ozzfests over the years. My first one in 2001. Started @ 9 a.m. went to 11 p.m What a lineup that year. Sabbath, Manson,Slipknot,Disturbed, Papa Roach,Linkin Park, Drowning Pool, BLS, Hatebreed Otep, Nonpoint, Mudvayne. I became an Ozzfest addict after that. If at all possible , I had to go,somewhere anywhere to see it..

2001 was really good, but my favorite was my first in 98: Main State - Ozzy, Tool, Megadeth, Soulfly, Sevendust, Coal Chamber. Second Stage - Motorhead, System of a down, Melvins, Incubus, Snot, and some others don't recall. and limp bizkit was in there somewhere

Ozzfest always had better bands. Yeah it started way fucking early but it was truely a whole day event compared to mayhem. I went to my first one in 00 when i got my license that year.
everybody dies so live your life and have fucking fun while doing it.

my only ozzfests were 07(2x) and 2010 I LOVED both...my mom thought I was too young up until 06 and my dad forgot to buy tix lol so my mom took me to 07(i was 14 for Ozzfest 07)

those lineups actually don't look that different than Mayhem's... just saying. It was more Nu Metal and 90s hard rock on Ozzfest, and more core on Mayhem. But the "classic" and good metal bands you have listed are the same. Minus Maiden, and Sabbath.
