Everyone keeps comparing metal and bringing up Dime. Dime was a fan of TRUE metal such as King Diamond/Mercyful Fate and old Metalica. He hated pure death metal (true meatl as most of you call it) is was a discredit to the genre. Heavy metal is still music and must consist of melody aka Fucking Hostile, you can still hear the riffs and they make a melody and you can still undertand Phil. There were guitar and drum solos showcasing the talent of the band. They were not some untalented jackasses playing as fast and as hard as they could, thats noise! I love you true death metal singers that gurgle into mic, that sounds great and shows off their talant. James from Metalica, Dickenson from Maiden, Ronnie from Dio, Halford, and King Diamond, those are true heavey metal singers who front real heavy metal bands. Pantera was the last TRUE heavy metal band. Most of the bands I hear mentioned on this board are garbage. I know metal must move on and I must admit the Fall of Ideals from ATR was a breath of fresh air. Seriously people listen to the Master Of Puppets, Don't Break the Oath, Number of the Beast, Cowboys from Hell and you tell me that and of these bands that you guys list (Mastodon, White Chapel) even compare. Pantera did hit mainstream but I do not hear anybody calling them sell outs.....the reason metal hasn't been mainstream in years is because it BLOWS, you keep justifying your garbage metal as staying real but I promise you if they somehow got talent and could be mainstream they would. So all these so called TRUE HEAVY METAL DEATH METAL GARBAGE BANDS keep playing fast and hard and keep gurgling in the mic sounds great!!!!!

although, i do like Death, Dethklok, and Cannibal Corpse for Death metal. Thrash and Death are my two tops. Deathcore and hardcore, those are the sucky genres that are GARBAGE METAL

lol.. PANTERA were the defition of a "Sell out". Remember when glam was big in the states?... what was Pantera then? A GLAM BAND... then in the 90's when the more hardcore bands started picking up radio-play, what did Pantera magically transform into?... a pseudo-thrash hardcore band...... THAT! is what defines a sell out.

lol... if you actually knew what you were ranting about; you'd know that these bands "that gurgle in the mic and only play as fast as they can" are actually very talented musician. Mainstream music is, and has always been, a poor man's song. Even with Mainstream metal bands like Iron Maiden and King Diamond (both of which im a fan of).... their songs are 100 times more catchy than they are technically proficient. (If that is what their goal was... then more power to them).... but you have bands like Obscura and Dark Angel... who both have written some of the most technically proficient ever to be released..... but im willing to bet you have no idea who i'm talking about. This whole "TRUE METAL" thing is retarded.... all started by the Manowar fags and their even gayer fans. But your rant just shows how ignorant you really are, to group in a big chunk of "Metal" with shitty bands like White Chapel.

Iron Maiden though gets a break because of the style of metal they play... it doesn't really require a lot from them technically... IMO Steve Harris has the most talent in that band... to be able to still stand out in the mix having Bruce singing and 2-3 guitarists playing at the same time is a hard thing to do....... Metallica though, i've just never liked. They always had little baby riffs that were just catchy. Dark Angel's "Time Does not Heal" had what... like 250 riffs, all good.
