Best food to devour at a outdoor music festival?

Too many times we all go to shows and find ourselves getting to charged/horny/amped/excited to see our favorite bands and to get away from the daily grind of boring existence which is our lives though the one thing sometimes we over look is what we are going to eat. Yea there's a lot of thought into bringing drinks and hmm drinks but food wise there's some random bringing chips or a bag of pepperoni rolls, that sucks so we turn to the vendors at the shows. Yea I also know of the fact vendor $ are insane but if you had to, what would you eat that will get you through the blistering day at the show or would you eat all you could before and clinch fist at the porto-pottys?

I rarely even drink at regular shows, but at day-long mid-summer outdoor festivals its nearly impossible not to. At Mayhem, I head for the free Rockstar as often as I can...aside from that I'll drink Coke, water, Gatorade or Powerade. About the only things I find edible (I'm a vegan) are pretzels and fruit smoothies.

I find a drinking fountain and will take an empty bottle off the ground. Water, and nothing but it, all day long. Eat before I get there, eat after I leave. I refuse to pay $75 for a Wendy's 99 cent menu size cheeseburger and 2 french fries.

Def great answers so far, some venues will allowed a SEALED plastic bottle water to be brought in and when its empty, even going to some of the booths they will fill it up. Also the Energy drink booths are nice to hit up but some can sometimes if you do not get a little food in, get a little tired. That sun can be a mo-fo as well but lube up with sun screen before hand. Found out one of the best idea's is to hit up a pizza place before, pick up a cpl $5-6 dollar pizzas, those are life savers and you can always barter for stuff while tailgating.

@metalthrasher...good point about the pizzas while waiting to get in. Of course tailgaters will remember drinks, but if you're one of those people (like me) who gets there hours early to wait in line, don't forget drinks! You'll need at least a couple bottles for every hour or so that you're out there standing in the sun. Some of these venues are in the middle of nowhere with no concessions until the gates open. And here's a tip...if you're allowed to bring in a water bottle, save it once the water is gone & pour in some free Rockstar later. You're not allowed to take the cans of Rockstar out of a certain area, but if you pour it in your bottle, it's ok.

I take my two teenage kids (OMG, my daughter will actually be 20 this year when Mayhem rolls around), my wife always gets sick at festivals, so she stays at home. We bring a 1 liter bottle of water each (the biggest bottles our venue will allow), and refill them at the water fountains. We pack my daughters purse with chips and granola bars, since she never jumps in the pit, they are generally safe from mutilation there. Unfortunately, it is seldom enough to get us through the day, and I usually have to hit up the concessions for expensive ass burgers or pizza slices before it is. And yes, this message board software sux, it is quite possibly the worst I have ever used.
