I want our fans to know that with Jimmy in our hearts, our journey to record has officially began. Jimmy helped leave this world an amazing gift and now it's our job to make sure to deliver that gift to our fans. We asked Jimmy's all time favorite drummer Mike Portnoy to record on behalf of him. Mike said it would be an honor and without question that’s what Jim would have wanted. Its comforting to us that someone like Mike, who is undoubtedly revered as one of the best drummers in the world, held such respect and adoration for the Rev's abilities. Even though it will never be the same without our brother by our side, his essence lives in our hearts and through the music he helped create. He was a legend before any of the success or any of that bullshit and we are fucking excited to lay this down for our fans, and especially for Jimmy.-Avenged Sevenfold

Dont get me wrong, The Rev passing, IS a shame! He was an amazing drummer and me being a drummer myself, he will be missed....BUTA7X has REALLY gone down hill on the metal scene. I just SUCKS that when anyone gets a TASTE of money, they start getting softer and softer.... hell, look at All That Remains, I was (still am somewhat) a huge fan of AtR. But there "radio release" of Forever in your hands..... re-recorded vocals so its all singing and no metal? ....... bullshit.........

the Rev sucked ass. Listen to REAL drummers like Vinnie Paul (Pantera), Travis Smith (Trivium), Paul Mazurkiewicz (Cannibal Corpse), Dave Lombardo (Slayer),Dave McClain (Machine Head), even Joey Jordison (Slipknot) is better. Mike Portnoy doesnt belong with A7X, he should stick with Dream Theater.

Haha I find your comment about The Rev sucking hilarious. He was known by other drummers and musicians as one of the best drummers in the world. So why would we take your comment into account at all? I mean, you must know music way better then other people that make it to make a comment like that. Keep your stupid insults to yourself, especially about someone who has passed away.

Portnoy just finished up the drum tracks. Then got a Rev tat on his hand in rembrance. Pretty awesome if I do say so myself.

Metalcrusades, you should feel ashamed, whether you liked the drummer or not, he's passed on, and you should at the very least show respect for the deceased. On the lighter more awesome side, I can't wait for their new album.
