I sometimes get lost in the transition between doom and sludge...

Sludge is called that for a reason.... it sounds a lot "dirtier" than your doom metal band and is usually done by rednecks....as for DOOM; You've got Trad Doom: Which is closest to a Sabbath sound. Death/Doom: The biggest thing in Doom Right now.... and the Finnish have this shit dialed up...... Funeral Doom and Drone Doom which are very minimalistic. And more likely than not; tedious. etc.

I'll listen to that Hanging Garden album then...
