Just think about it like this. While you are watching Hatebreed tear it up on the side stage for like 45 mins, you can probably miss most of Five Finger Death Punch.

because they connect better with the crowd on the smaller stages

hatebreed puts on an awesome show, and is one of my favorite bands. that being said, they are a better fit for the second stage, where people can go apeshit. even though 5finger is the pussiest band out of the whole line up, they are better fit for the main stage (even though the main stage they should be on is opening for nickelback or some other crap)
