^^^^ Couldn't of said it better myself. Black metal a lot of times to me seems like is the genre where people want to seem like they know shit. Its like they think if they know black metal bands then they are ok in the metal community which is stupid. They almost force themselves to liking it and if you listen to something long enough you can eventually force yourself into liking it. Goatwhore is the closest I will even come near to liking black metal and thats not even really that close. Plus im a firm believer that Americans make the best Metal!!

Hails!!! N0thinghead. Melo Death is where its at!!! At the Gates, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Opeth, Hypocrisy. If thoes bands made the fest I could commit suicide afterwards because it could never get better, LOL!

i dont agree with the black metal comment but u are 100 right about the bands. hatebreed has the best mosh pits ever and the line up def dosnt suck

Black Metal (esspecially the band that coined the phrase-VENOM) does not suck! Unfortunately, some of the some of their fans are a little marrow minded. (some of the posts on thses boards make me wonder of they aren't prime recruits for al-qaida or the taliban they are so narrow minded on music) Old metal, new metal, black metal, thrash metal, death metal, speed metal, etc., etc., etc., ad nauseum. Trouble & St. Vitus are so fucking heavy that even if you listen the words you would never know they were...wait for it...Christian metal. (Truouble "The Skull" is all about the horror of crucifixtion & St. Vitus "Walking Dead" is all about some of the things in Revalations, who said relgion is boring?) "Dig what you dig."-Corey Taylor/Slipknot. I saw VENOM in '85 with Megadeth & Dark Angel while in '08 I saw Slipknot/Disturbed/5FDP on MAYHEM. Both great shows! So I have been around a while (Satan must be my dad) & I have seen metal in all it's forms. The artists don't suck, just their narrow minded fans!

Well apparently Mayhem fest agreed with you, and that's why the Atreyu's have replaced the Behemoths. ugh. Last year's Mayhem fest was an extreme festival dream come true, and this year looks like an Ozzfest recycling. Long live true satanic symphonic spiritual black metal! Enjoy your death punch ;)

Last year? You're fucking kidding me, right? Saw Manson/Slayer tour together on the Hot Topic tour in '07. 2 full years before! (same year Ozzy took Ozzfest around to more than just 1 date). Since I already saw the headliners together before the only thing exciting was the other bands. I think the line up this year will be just as good as MAYHEM '08. The only thing that I base that on 2 things: A. I have heard & seen all the bands except Norma Jean. & B. Just saw Zombie Nov. 8th & 5FDP Oct. 28th and despite other negativity on this site, both were great!

to a_blaze28Dimmu Borgir is not really that much of a black metal band anymore.and neither is Behemoth.Behemoth is more of a death metal band, with some bm influences, they're called "Blackened Death Metal".Oh wait I forgot, anyone who wears corpsepaint is considered a black metal band...or at least that's what people who don't know what they're talking about think.Learn about black metal some, then try to argue about why it sucks, and I might actually try to listen to what you have to say

To all the dipshits who are still lumping together black metal and goth you need to shut the hell up. And Behemoth is not black metal they are "Blackened Death Metal". True Norwegian black metal like Darkthrone kicks ass.

nolametal and tbdm240 m/i hear ya guys. in flames is one of my most fav bands of all time!! and i've seen them only once before. i'm from nice hot weather (70 degrees lowest) miami and i drove to orlando (3hr drive) in nothing but shorts and my in flames t-shirt, and it was 20 something degrees!! and i was stuck in line for more than an hour until finally i got inside to see one of the best performances of my LIFE!!! long live swedish metal m/& nolametal: i love alotta european metal bands and i've been starting to hate american metal kuz alotta it sux. i mostly like swedish and finnish melodeath like of course in flames, dark tranquillity, soilwork, at the gates, insomnium, nightrage, etc. lol
