Rockstar Mayhem Festival

Booking Agents don't book shows to please everyone all the time. The point is to appeal to the masses by having a little bit of everyone's favorites on the line-up. In some situations, this may be the only time a certain band will be in your city for the next year or two. Booking Agents and Tour Managers know most people will pay the ticket price to catch a couple of their favorites, even if they hate other bands on the tour. Look at Coachella. People fly to California from all over the world for that event. Do you think that everyone that goes to the 3 day festival LOVES Jay-Z, Devo, Sly and the Family Stone, AND Tiesto? You are doing a disservice to your favorite band(s) by not supporting them in THEIR position on the tour. The only way the majority of bands survive is from touring and merch money.... if you think they get paid by the record label or for CD sales, you need to do some research and welcome reality. However, if you prefer to to stay at home and bitch about the line-up, go ahead. You can look to yourself if the band breaks up in less than 2 years because they can no longer pay the bills or take care of their families.... and they have to stop music to get a "day" job, or because the label drops them.The other thing that is sad to me is that people are forfeiting the possibility of discovering new and upcoming bands and deny the fact that some bands can sound surprisingly incredible live, even when their albums aren't so incredible (or vice versa). I personally disliked Korn based on hearing some of the early radio stuff; then I accidentally saw them on Ozzfest 2003 and was blown away by their live performance. I discovered Shadows Fall over 7 years ago by going to a local club for beers with a friend, not knowing who any of the bands were (they were touring with God Forbid). I saw Slayer for the first time in 2007, only because they were touring with Marilyn Manson. I'm a fan and addict of music. It's about being open minded to new experiences. To me, it's all about the annual summer experience. A big festival with a lot of bands, and the opportunity to meet a lot of other metal and rock fans. All it takes is for you to take a walk and people watch, take a bathroom break, go get drinks or food, or BUY MERCH TO SUPPORT YOUR BAND during that little 35 minute session that the band you hate is on stage. For the price of a Hot Topic outfit (that you can buy with the next month's allowance) you could possibly experience a memorable evening with some of your best friends in the world, meet one of the coolest couples you've ever met, or have a conversation with Kerry King at an after party. Who knows, you may meet your future best friend and lover amongst the chaos.This will be my 3rd year of Mayhem, and my 5th show in a 3-City Texas Triangle. I can tell you there WILL be a 4th year of Mayhem for me in 2011, and I can also tell you I DON'T GIVE A DAMN WHAT THE LINE-UP IS!!!~ChrisitaOh, and by the way, just because the most badass band (in your opinion) wasn't on the tour, it doesn't mean they weren't invited or asked to perform. Each band has their own agenda, and ultimately, the timing may have interfered with something bigger and better they already had planned.

Yeah, I guess maybe you could say that I'm bitching at all these fake ass "metal" fans with sand in their panties. You can all take your shitty attitudes off the board, out of our fun at Mayhem and on to your favorite band that was left behind (and probably for a reason). My post was about something all of the bitchers know nothing about - THE BUSINESS OF MUSIC.
