I never got to an Ozzfest for a variety of reasons, so I can't say anything about customer satisfaction, but it sounds like it was over the top and awesome. If time travel was possible, but cost an arm and a leg, I'd hacksaw two of my limbs off to see the 2001 show.
Is that hereditary or can one take classes?

Ozzfest did alot of good. Not sure what it can do now.For starters, Ozzfest helped jump start the careers of the following bands by exposing them to the US metal fans: Slipknot, SOAD, Disturbed, Godsmack, Lacuna Coil, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Hatebreed, KsE, Black Label Society, Lost Prophets, Chevelle, Seether, Otep, Drowning Pool, Mudvayne, Dimmu Borgir, Incubus, Marilyn Manson, Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, Unearth, God Forbid, Bleeding Through, Static X, Trivium, Deftones...None of those bands were on major tours until Ozzfest brought them along for one of their tours. Yeah, some of those bands aren't metal, some I don't like, but Ozzfest helped gives these bands some kick ass exposure and also helped usher in new genres of metal/hard rock. There were only a handful of established bands to play Ozzfest that were not new, such as Pantera, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Slayer, Megadeth, Tool, Rob Zombie, and Korn. One thing I like is that Mayhem Fest brings along mostly veteran acts on the smaller stages. I am more familiar with them. However, this is bad for metal. Ozzfest introduced us to all kinds of new bands. Mayhem is not helping metal evolve. They need to have one of those stages (Mayhem Stage) for new bands. And by new I don't mean In This Moment or 3IOB or Norma Jean- they have all played Ozzfest before. We should have Skeletonwitch, The Empire Shall Fall, Weedeater, Red River Reviva or veteran bands that need a jump start in awareness such as Exodus, Dream Evil, etc. I would also like to see Mayhem get away from the Ozzfest bands that have appeared a zillion times and get other bands. If Korn is good for one thing it is the fact that I have not seen them but 2 other times. I love Zombie, LoG, Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, KsE but how many more times will we get the same old same old instead of Iron Maiden, Down, Testament, Dethklok or Children of Bodom?Another advantage Ozzfest had was that 90 of the people were there for Ozzfest at least to some extent. Each year they were promised to get a certain amount of people due to Ozzy/Sabbath alone. There are very few bands who can put butts into seats like Ozzy can- Metallica, Tool, Slipknot, Iron Maiden...I love Mayhem Fest. Its great. If it weren't for Ozzfest it wouldn't exist. Now it needs to learn from Ozzfests mistakes but also use what worked for Ozzfest (exposing new bands/musical genres) for it to exist 10 years down the road.

I'm a hand model, mama. A finger jockey. We think differently than the face and body boys...we're a different breed.
