If it weren't for Ozzfest to start as the first touring metal fest then there wouldn't be a Mayhem Fest.Ozzfest could return in a major way this year as a full scale tour. With new albums being worked on a summer 10 release by Disturbed, Godsmack, Down, Devildriver, and bands who released albums last year that are still touring like Megadeth, Slayer, Alice in Chains, Lacuna Coil, Killswitch Engage... anything is possible.

You have a point Wolverine. They started it here and in a way, they led the way for Mayhemfest. Ozzfest used to be a big part of my summer. I'd go to 3 sometimes 4 dates. Definitely gotta give them props. If they do start it up again they have competition this time though so they can't pull the same crap. This year will probably be one show in Alaska or some crap like that and they'll announce it 3 weeks before the show.

FYI....The MAYHEM festival has the same people running it as they did for OZZFEST. I work as a stagehand in Denver & have worked both festivals. The only difference is the organizers don't have to run every god damn thing by Ozzy & Sharon for their blessing. MAYHEM is better organized & executed, period.

I miss a lot of things about Ozzfest, and some things about it not so much. I love the earlier start time, more bands(and better selection of bands imo) and longer headling set times. Ozzfest also stopped by better venues in my area (both Alpine Valley and Summerset are 10x the party Tinnely Park is)On the other hand, its nice knowing the line up and dates by january, and Mayhem has better ticket prices for seats and pit area tickets.

How can he possibly resist the maddening urge to erradicate history at the mere push of a single button! The beautiful shiny button? The jolly, candy-like button. Will he hold out, folks? Can he hold out?

I miss Ozzfest because I never got the chance to go to it before. I do want to see Ozzy before he fucking dies though so hopefully this year it's a full-scale tour with a lot of amazing bands. It definitely has the potential to come back stronger than ever.

Ozzfest every year said "tourdates and lineup to come" some years up until as little as 6 or 7 weeks before the tour starts. Then there were times where they'd give you a date that they were gonna be releasing the info, then they'd postpone that date 3 times and leave people waiting even longer. ANd then they'd throw a freakin mystery band in there and not tell you who it was until after you bought your ticket. The whole thing was a mess. There's no comparison.
