I had great times at ozzfests for several years, but seeing how professionally run Mayhemfest is, you can see how much of a clusterf-ck ozzfest really was. With Mayhemfest there's no secrets, no mysteries, no half truths and misinformation, no waiting for tourdates and info till the middle of May. We get tourdates, and bands in January. That's how you run a festival.

Is there rumored to be one this year? If there is, they'll probably wait till june to announce it

The only reason Ozzfest was so good was because it had no real competition.

ozzfest was amazing, having been to both years of mayhem, and 5 different years of Ozzfest, I did prefer ozzfest. Every date I went to was well ran.

Very true that they had no competition. You had administrators on their board always talking about how complicated and difficult it is to run a show like that and how people needed to be patient. That doesn't fly anymore when you see fests like mayhem that have their act together and are able to get it together and get the fans info. The shows themselves were well ran, but the way they got info to the fans and released tourdates and info and sold tickets was pathetic. Totally bush league. I prefer the mayhem format anyways. Bands on the other stages get a little more time. No waiting in between bands and you don't have to get there at 10am if you wanna see the whole show.

I prefered the 10 am start time as it was a little cooler, and allowed for more bands. Also their was a 5 minute wait tops between bands..not to bad

I hear ya. I loved ozzfest too. 12 bands and 9 hours is enough for me though. But I"m not in my 20's anymore. I lasted the full show a couple of times, but towards the end I was just in survival mode trying to make it through so I wasn't able to enjoy the mainstage like I normally would have. Mayhem could squeeze in a few more bands if they cut everybody's set. But I'd rather them keep it the way it is

As long as the line up is solid, it dosent matter to me. I do miss seeing Ozzy and Ozzy fronted Sabbath. Because its been since the last Ozzfest that Ive seen the Ozzman. But otherwise as long as thier is a Summer festival that is devoted to metal, Im happy. Im hoping that Ozzfest can return this year, and make up for the brutal bands this years Mayhem is lacking.
