Who ever says Slayer isn't "real" metal needs to get a lesson on what metal is...and Slipknot is nu-metal..there earlier stuff was a lot faster then there newer stuff, but all in all there a good band. Mayhem is going to be good, people should just enjoy the bands who will be there...seen both Slayer and Slipknot in concert, they are both great shows, they are not the same, but who wants them to be...
CaptainMetal CaptainMetal
@jmbean no they are not, they are co-headlining main stage.
jmbean86 jmbean86
Slayer is on the second stage.. Enough said...

In no way what so ever is Slipknot a "true fucking metal band" if anything they are a nu-metal band, the only one that has not died for that matter. If you want true metal check out Helloween, Kreator, Hypocrisy, Blind Guardian, Carcass or At The Gates. As far as talent goes Poison has more than Slipknot, I hate both though.

Bloodmouth3000 you wanna meet up? Slipknot is worse than Poison. I would gladly go see Poison over Slipknot. SLIPKNOT SUCKS AND SLAYER HAS SAID SO!

@ bana booh. first off how old are you like 12. I've been listening to SLAYER longer than you have been alive. For you to say that SLAYER isn't real metal just because they are old just shows everyone how fucking retarded you really are. The age of the band doesnt have a damn thing to do with whether or not the band is real metal. Obviously SLAYER has been around for so long because they have been putting out kicks ass fucking music this whole time. Don't get me wrong SLIPKNOT has great music but there is no way in hell that they are better than SLAYER. Equal but not better. If you will look back at 2011 didn't SLAYER headline a tour that had ROB ZOMBIE opening for them?! Grow the fuck up and quit making dumb ass comments.
Bloodmouth3000 Bloodmouth3000
@walkerkemp uh yea thats why their headlining this tour
Bloodmouth3000 Bloodmouth3000

Shawnzy12 Shawnzy12
well then i apologize and let me restate mrs chemicalwarfare but yes we can agree that 90% of the other bands are garbage other than slayer, as i lay dying, motorhead, and slipknot i just like the progression of slipknot over the years ive liked them since they first popped up like god knows how many years ago just cause it was something different for me to listen to outside of whiney garbage ass hardcore music...i love metal all forms of it except when its dudes who wear chick make up and sing like their nuts are in vice grips i give all the respect in the world to slayer because they are one of the only metal bands i know from their time that havent conformed and changed theyve been slayer since the day they came into being kicking ass and taking names i could care less for toms lyrics but kerry king is a nasty bastard and yeah you got a point war ensemble is a freak of a song(the aild cover is bad ass too) but yeah you will be seeing me in the pit probably dead but still see ya in the pit
Metalfakesmustbepunished Metalfakesmustbepunished
Fuck Slipknot I hate the shit out of that band. They are the equivalent of Poison. A bunch of pretty boys in drag!
Darkdevout Darkdevout
SLAYEEEER!!!! \m/ this tour is going to kick ass!
ChemicalWarfare ChemicalWarfare
Mrs. ChemicalWarfare, thank you. I've been to plenty of Slayer shows, so don't proceed to assume you know things I don't.. South of Heaven? Let's try some War Ensemble please. As for "freaking out on a web forum", I find that to be a quite an overstatement, and pretty god damn ridiculous. My head is where it should be, and far from my asshole - I can see the music trends clearly & have seen what Slipknot started out as, as compared to what they are today. I refuse to further justify myself and my opinions to you, as we are both entitled to our own opinions - however, I think we are agreed on the other shitty bands performing here, as well.
See you in the pit.
Shawnzy12 Shawnzy12
ok mr chemicalwarfare you obviously have your head so far up your ass you cant see the light of day anymore. i will agree to an extent that slipknot does have a lot of stupid fans but let me ask you a question what band doesnt have a bunch of idiotic fans. Slipknot never conformed their sound to grab fans they created a new style of music that wasnt done before. Slipknot kicks ass and so does slayer but to be honest slayers songs sound like twisted bed time stories....if you wanna bash some bands on this bill feel free to attack asking alexandria or tdwp the only 2 bands that dont belong on this bill other than high on fire but they deserve a shot at greatness because they are a small band so quit bashing people you dont fucking know....and if you dedide you want to continue with your blasphemy i hope you get destroyed during south of heaven cause god knows anyone who freaks out on a web forum obviously is going to get mutilated in a slayer pit k thanks
CaptainMetal CaptainMetal
I look forward to Slayer concerts not Slipknot. I am not going to Mayhem this year because I have Wacken tickets instead but if I were I would not be complaining, I have no desire to see Slipknot yet again, and I would love to beat the traffic.
ChemicalWarfare ChemicalWarfare
All these 16 year old kids jacking their dick off to Slipknot... lol.
You can clearly see what's going on here. "i likez slayurs one song cuz i saw it on TV or herd it on teh radio!" The fuck...
Slayer is some real god damn metal, you little disrespectful shits; and sadly, there are few bands out there now that can hold up to their level. Slipknot fans are, for the most part, trendy-ass mother fuckers who think they are "brootal" and different from the rest of the general society because they can relate to some fucking song lyrics from a band. A band that is only still around because they have conformed their sound into what most whiny kids want to hear... otherwise known as selling out.
Bitch please, get the fuck out.
bana booh bana booh
i still dont get why people are crying about why slayer isnt headlining and why they are under slipknot....... first off they arent headlining because slipknot is better and they are under slipknot because slipknot is better.... and if u cant handle the truth then OH FUCKING WELL!!!!!!!! lol slayer use to be a good band and now they just arent... sorry for u slayer fans but gotta admit slipknot is WAY fucking better and im not trying to start shit but really u guys gotta understand people look forward to slipknot concerts and people are like watever to a slayer concert they're just old... srry guys...................... MAGGOT 4 LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHA

In the beginning, when there were no blueprints, no set paths, no boundaries or steps to follow, SLAYER assaulted the world with its new hybrid of metal and punk. Heavier, faster and darker than the rest, Slayer set the new standard which all others continue to follow. Slayer - Tom Araya/bass & vocals, Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman/guitars, and Dave Lombardo/drums - is the band that other heavy acts are measured against, defining not only a genre but an attitude. Since Day One, Slayer has mirrored the turmoil and aberra- tions of our society. Probably as much, if not more than any other like-genre artist, Slayer's songs speak to the ongoing social, political and economic disorder that others - like the mainstream media - gloss over or completely ignore. For nearly three decades, Slayer's onslaught of sheer brutality has proven them to be the supreme thrash-metal band on the planet. The two-time Grammy-winning band has also accu- mulated an abundance of Certified Gold Albums along with "Best..." awards from media outlets all over the world, includ- ing Kerrang!, SPIN, Metal Hammer, Revolver, and Esquire. Throughout Slayer's history, the band has never faltered in unleashing its extreme and focused sonic assault, and, unlike many of their contemporaries who "commercialized" their sound, Slayer has remained crushing and brutal, steadfastly refusing to cater to the mainstream. And they are as focused and true today as ever, as evidenced by the band's latest offering, World Painted Blood. "There are some real stand- out tracks on this album," said Araya. "The new music is fast, heavy, and intense, with aggressive melodies. Lyrically, we're dealing with death, murder, chaos, destruction, the Apocalypse, World War Two atrocities, serial killers, and domestic violence. This is a Slayer album." Few bands come close to matching the intensity that Slayer brings to its live shows, having been named "Best Live Band" by Revolver, SPIN, and Metal Hammer. Since the release of World Painted Blood, fans have come out to see Slayer, first when they co-headlined (with Marilyn Manson) the May- hem Festival, with Megadeth and Testament on the Canadian and American Carnage tours, festivals throughout Europe, Australia and Japan, and then sharing the stage with Megadeth and Anthrax for the first time since 1991's "Clash of the Titans" tour on the 2010 Jagermeister Fall Music Tour. And then there were the seven history-making Sonisphere Festivals in Europe that joined Slayer with Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax - The Big Four.Slayer has influenced many of music's most successful bands, from Ministry and Deftones to Slipknot, Sepul- tura, and Killswitch Engage, and continues to earn new generations of fans while staying true to its ceaselessly de- voted followers. Throughout its history, Slayer has played host to many bands' breakthrough tours, taking out System of a Down, Hatebreed, Chimaira, In Flames, and Clutch, among others. Slayer's legacy is cemented in music forever, and the band remains undaunted in its directive to make punishing, aggressive and exciting music.
